Four Seasons Vase – Flow of Color (Artist Series)
by Sumiyo Toribe
This handcrafted ceramic vase explores the harmony of the four seasons through color and movement. The surface is thoughtfully arranged with warm tones—spring and fall—flowing into cool tones of summer and winter, creating a continuous transition of energy and atmosphere.
Carved, organic lines travel across the form like intertwining tree branches, connecting each season and guiding the eye around the piece. The flowing pattern reflects nature’s rhythm—subtle shifts, balance, and the passage of time.
Wheel-thrown in dark stoneware, the vase is coated with white slip and layered with custom-developed underglaze colors. Each piece is carefully hand-carved to reveal the clay body beneath, adding depth and contrast while emphasizing the branch-like design. Fired to cone 6 for strength and lasting beauty.
A one-of-a-kind piece that brings color, movement, and seasonal harmony into your space.
